Last month, we wrote about new guidelines issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) aimed at eliminating distracted driving. Now, the federal government is asking for your feedback.
NHTSA has announced that it will hold three public hearings to give drivers an opportunity to comment on the guidelines. The hearings will be held in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Illinois, and Los Angeles, California.
If you can’t attend one of these hearings, don’t worry. You can submit your comments in writing. NHTSA is asking for all written comments to be submitted by April 24, 2012. You can submit your comments online using the Federal eRulemaking Portal or mail your comments to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The NHTSA guidelines are meant to promote driver safety by discouraging automakers from equipping their vehicles with excessively distracting devices.
